Clamshell Roof Top Tent Aluminum Rooftop Tent Sleeps 2 Person Roof Top Tent Hard Shell with Roof Racks | iKamping Y

I haven’t mounted this clamshell rooftop tent yet, but this tent is epic. Great build quality and looks spectacular. Plus my sons love it!

Just back from my first weekend away in the iKamping Y tent so time for a review.
First off, I was very impressed with the level of customer service when responding to my initial questions (I had a lot) and then throughout the buying process, keeping me up to date with when I could expect my car top tent to ship.
Install: great, very well packaged, shipping was fast. Install was very straightforward.
I was impressed with the high quality, feels very well put together. Mattress is really comfy, I slept so well. This clam shell rooftop tent blocks out a lot of light, so even once the sun comes up it's easy to stay sleeping.
There is very little room in the tent when closed, I've managed to leave a sleeping bag in it but that's probably the limit. Definitely no room for pillows unless you use inflatable ones.
Overall, I'm really impressed with this iKamping Y clamshell roof top tent.

There are primarily two reasons why I went with a iKamping Y (clamshell tent) over my initial inclination to go with a iKamping Y (ABS shell pop up tent). One is the extreme rugged durability with a solid metal case. The other is that it's very tall at its peak so if you want to sit up or get dressed there's a lot of height in that one area. It's roomy in some ways but it's also tight at the front point where it's narrowest. The other advantage that I've discovered as a pleasant surprise is that it's very solid in bad weather, especially when you point it into the wind. winds up to 20 mph are not even noticed when you're inside and it still holds up very well to wind speeds much higher than that. last of all, it's easy for me to close by myself since I've only gone solo camping with it.

I fell in love with how low profile it was. That's exactly what i want in a clamshell rooftop tent.

I just got back from my first trip with the iKamping Y clamshell rooftop tent and I love it! The quality is on point for sure. I love the ease of set and breakdown. If I had to pick a down side it would be the side windows. I wish they rolled up vs down and wish they were awning for the side. Buy this hardshell rooftop tent, you'll love it!
